Dangrove is a private art storage facility in Alexandria. It comprises of over 10,000sqm and spans across two levels, including specialist storage rooms, mock gallery spaces, art restoration workshops, a great hall for private display, offices and amenities.
Designed to be of architectural significance, the form is unique: from the off white precast panelled façade to the great hall and sloping roof over 30 metres high, the building has an intriguing appearance. Dangrove showcases many unique elements, such as a twin skin polycarbonate façade, architectural steel, aluminium and stainless steel internal and external components, high performing humidity control and air leakage technology in the mechanical system and building fabric, custom glazing and blackened steel joinery.
Strict Principal’s Project Requirements Performance criteria saw the original design for the walls and roof deemed unsound. A custom-made twin skin Kingspan panel was invented by Infinity as an alternative, which was insulated and contained a drainage cell in the cavity to eliminate the risk of water ingress. The feature block was substituted for “Brighton Lite” precast panels, which improved construction speed, quality and longevity in the finished product. The result is a visually stunning and highly functional design.
